Several young Vincentians are expected to be recruited to join the Royal Navy in the United Kingdom, as a delegation from the Royal Navy is currently in St Vincent and the Grenadines on a recruitment drive.
During a short ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sir Louis Straker welcomed the delegation, noting that many young people have shown an interest in entering the service of the Royal Navy.
Sir Louis said the recruitment is of mutual benefit to St Vincent and the Grenadines and the United Kingdom as it provides young people with opportunities for professional advancement and personal development.
And, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ High Commission to the United Kingdom, Cenio Lewis, expressed gratitude that another recruitment request was accepted and noted that it gives young Vincentians an opportunity for employment and to build their existing skills.
The head of the Recruitment Team, William Adams said the Royal Navy is boosting recruitment in the Commonwealth, and this process would provide varying skills to the Navy.
The team will be here for the next two weeks.
