The Inland Revenue Department says it will be forwarding cases to the Director of Public Prosecutions for criminal charges to be laid against chronic tax evaders.
Comptroller of Inland Revenue, Kelvin Pompey, said the Department is currently compiling a list of these persons to take the necessary action against them.
Mr. Pompey reminded tax payers that March 31st is the deadline for individuals and businesses to file their Return
He said their audit and investigative units are working tirelessly to ensure that persons comply with the Income Tax Act.
Mr. Pompey said the Department expects to start having charges brought against chronic tax evaders in the upcoming months.
