As part of commemorating World No Tobacco Day, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment will host a virtual panel discussion with special emphasis on youth, Tobacco and COVID.
The discussion, which is scheduled for Monday June 8, consist of three panelists; Pediatrician Dr. Shari- Ann Davis- Andrews, Youth Coordinator at Planned Parenthood, Mr. Marlon Young and President of Coulls Hill Adolescent Group, Delano King.
The discussion is informed by the 2018 Global Youth Tobacco Survey that was conducted in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with students aged 13-15. The results from the study indicate that close to 10% of Vincentian students have used tobacco products, while over 20% are exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke at home.
The panel discussion is expected to be aired live on the Ministry of Health’s Facebook Page (SVG Health) from 4:30 p.m.
World No Tobacco Day is held on May 31 every year. All youths are invited to join the discussion and share their views.
