The Technical and Vocational Industry in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be getting another boost with the training of Cohort 4 under the Youth and Adult Training for Employment (YATE) Programme.

On Thursday 3rd June, 2021, the new trainees will go through an
orientation session which follows an opening ceremony at the
Kingstown Baptist Church starting at 9.00 a.m.
Due to the volcanic eruptions, training will only be held at the
Campden Park and Kingstown Technical Institutes (T.I.s), rather
than the usual four T.I.s, as well as approved private institutions.
After the orientation, the trainees will go through one week of life
skills coaching that will take place between 7th and 14th June.
Technical Training at the T.I.s commences on Monday 21st June
and the private training providers on Monday 28th June, 2021.
YATE’s objective is to train unemployed and the vulnerable
population between the ages of 17 and 45 in various vocational
areas for the Caribbean Certificate Qualification (CVQS). Since its
inception YATE has trained over four hundreds persons and
certified over two hundred youths and adults in areas such as
electrical installation, welding, amenity horticulture, garment
construction, commercial food preparation as well as cosmetology.
YATE is facilitated under the Ministry of Finance and Economic
Planning in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and
    National Reconciliation.
