Local track and field club, High Performance, more popularly known as “HP”, has taken what is possibly the largest single-club Vincentian contingent of athletes to ever compete at the Whitsuntide Games. Forty-six (46) athletes from the club, accompanied by five (5) team officials, left the state on Friday June 3rd, 2022 aboard a catamaran to compete in the one-day meet, set to take place at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. Georges, Grenada on Saturday June 4th, 2022. Founder and Coach of HP, Chester Morgan, said regional meets are important in providing athletes exposure to different levels of competitions and also aid in the development of their interpersonal skills, as they interact with people from various countries, cultures and backgrounds. This is HP’s second time featuring in the competition. This year the club’s participation is made possible through sponsorship from SVG Teachers Cooperative Credit Union, National Lotteries Authority, General Employees Cooperative Credit Union, Browne’s Valuation & Quality Surveying Services Ltd and other private donors. HP first participated in 2019, returning then with 19 medals. The team hopes to improve its medal count in the 2022 edition of the games, and is expected to return to St. Vincent & the Grenadines on Sunday June 5th, 2022.
