The Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation has begun preparatory work towards an international meeting of heads of government dubbed “Transforming Education Summit” (TES). The TES aims to mobilize action, ambition, solidarity, and solutions related to transforming education between now and 2030.
Locally, an organizing committee headed by Dr. Godwin James, is advancing the internal preparatory process, which involves meaningfully engaging young people and the full set of education stakeholders. Considering this, several plans are in place:
National consultations to develop a shared vision, commitment, and alignment of action across international constituencies to transform education between now and 2030. There will be a meeting for principals of primary schools on Wednesday 15 June, secondary schools on Friday 17 June, as well as multisectoral and stakeholder engagement on 21 June.

The use of a Thematic Action Tracks workstream to place a spotlight on areas that require

greater attention and action, and that can transform education by accelerating progress as part of the 2030 Agenda. These include:

    1. Inclusive, equitable, safe and healthy schools
    2. Teachers, teaching and the teaching profession
    3. Learning and skills for life, work and sustainable development
    4. Digital learning and transformation
    5. Financing of education

Public engagement and mobilization to democratize dialogue around education, and to grow a global movement for education transformation, building on a range of existing efforts.
The Transforming Education Summit (TES), which will be preceded by a Pre-Summit from 28-30 June in France, will be convened by the United Nations during the week of 19 September in New York. The government’s delegation is expected to present a National Statement of Commitment on the key actions to transforming education.
