    Bailey Bridge Construction On Course

Minister of Transport and Works Montgomery Daniel said that he is pleased with the level of work put in so far at the construction sites of two temporary bridges at Noel and Overland.

This, despite the challenges being faced by contractors within recent times due to heavy rainfall.

But Daniel said on radio on November 2 that despite this, the construction of the temporary bridges is expected to be completed by the end of November.

“The contractors are doing well, I understand that the completion date is somewhere around the end of November,” Daniel said.

“I am happy as to where we are with the level of construction,” he continued.

Within recent times, heavy rains have caused rises in the water levels of two rivers in particular – one at Noel and the other at Overland – literally preventing any crossing for both pedestrians and vehicles.

Given the frequency with which these two rivers were affected, government opted to place two temporary river crossings with work beginning in September.

Both bridges are expected to be 30 metres in length; the bridge at Overland will be two-lane with a pedestrian walkway, and the Noel bridge will be a single lane with a walkway.
