The Vermont Football Club ( Vermont FC) sponsored by CEDCO has won their first three games in the South Leeward Inter-Village Competition.

In their first game against Largo Height, on May 19th, they finished 1-0, followed by their game against Rose Place, May 24th where they finished 2-1 and their game against Sandy Gully, June 3rd, where they finished 3-0. All games are being played at the Campden Park playing field.

In an interview, the Vermont FC Mentor Shannan John said she looks forward to the team securing the trophy.

“So far the team has been doing excellent; working as a team and even beating last year’s championship winner – Rose Place” John said.

The former Miss SVG contestant who won Miss Community Spirited and 1st Place for her community based project, went on to add that she not only wants victory in the competition but also be motivation for other Vermont residents.

“My hopes for this year, especially for the competition, is not only to win and put Vermont FC at the top but to also show my community and neighboring communities that what started off as a simple project continues to grow into something big and anyone can do the same for their own community.”

The Vermont FC was started in September 2022, as part of John’s Community Based Project in the Miss SVG Pageant.

According to John, football became her focus because of its global recognition.

“It is a highly respected sport due to the fact that it requires a lot of discipline and team work in order to achieve the main goal of winning a match. These attributes are needed in real life as well and can be applied,” she added.

The Vermont FC will play against the Lower Questelles football team, June 8 at 4:30 pm.
