The Team at the St. Vincent Brewery Limited (SVBL) are extremely proud to have come out on top in the Americas in the Guinness league of Excellence (GLOE).

All breweries (both wholly owned and third-party producers) that brew Guinness® participate in the League – currently there are 54 sites in 48 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

According to the results provided by the GLOE the Brewery here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which is in Campden Park are the brewers of the Best Guinness in the Americas for the year 2022-2023.
This is the first time in the past 10 years that the St. Vincent Brewery has topped overall in the Americas.

The Guinness League of excellence provides a measure of the quality of Guinness® produced around the world. By applying a common scoring system, it facilitates the development of a league. The Expert Sensory Panel, Brewing and Governance, and Brand Technology Innovation teams within the Operational Excellence – Beer function of Diageo Global Supply support the breweries on the ground and from Dublin to improve their performance annually.

The GLOE for the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout in 2022-2023 was calculated based on scores in 5 different areas: Technical Flavor, Brand Flavor, Pack Dress, Codex Compliance and Analytical compliance.
Key parameters that affect quality from a consumer perspective are assessed, what does it look like (in package and in glass) and how does it taste? Underpinning this GLOE monitor consistency of the brewing and packaging processes, thus ensuring consumers get consistently Great Guinness®.

Several Guinness variants are assessed as part of the League – Guinness® Draught, Guinness® Foreign Extra Stout and Guinness® Extra Stout. For each site the GLOE look at the most significant volume of Guinness® produced on that site. Some sites for instance can produce 2 or more variants. All production is monitored, but only the major Guinness® SKU is included in the League of Excellence results. These results are indicative of the quality of all variants.

The GLOE has a defined set of standards covering flavor, analytical results, package dress, and processes for each beer. While these are different for each variant, the GLOE monitor these to ensure that they do conform to the laid down standards defined for each one, thus assuring consumers of consistently Great Guinness® Everywhere Every Time. So, in effect conformance to standards is the over-arching measure.

The St. Vincent Brewery in addition to other Guinness Sites worldwide become a part of the Guinness League of Excellence because it gives good feedback as to how the Vincentian product quality compares with other global producers. In addition, the measures allow for the SVBL to develop specific action plans to drive the quality of Guinness® even higher, moving up the League. Winning this award is something for all Vincentians to be proud of.
