Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Honourable Carlos James, says close to one thousand jobs will become available in the tourism and hospitality services sector within the next few months.

Minister James made this disclosure while addressing a press conference at the National Insurance Services (NIS) Conference Room, on Monday 18th September, 2023.

According to the tourism minister, several stakeholders are working closely with the government to recruit Vincentians including MSC Cruise, Sandals Resorts, Soho House and Canouan Estates.
“We are continuously providing opportunities for employment and training in the tourism and hospitality services sector for all Vincentians,” Minister James said. According to the tourism minister, strengthening the linkages between tourism and other sectors is critical to building supply platforms for local products and services.

Sandals will also host a job fair from the 26th to 29th September with the possibility of recruiting some 800 employees.

MSC Cruise Line will partner with the Ministry of Tourism in recruiting up to 100 skilled workers in the tourism and hospitality services sector during a Job Fair scheduled to take place at the Cruise Ship Terminal from the 7th to 9th October. Mandarin Oriental and Soho House would also recruit security personnel, drivers and hospitality services personnel locally.

The tourism sector is one of the major contributors to our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Tourism receipts exceed 25 percent of GDP in a typical year and accounts for nearly 20 percent of formal sector employment in the country.
