A member of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force appeared before the Family Court today on several charges of rape and indecent assault.

According to reports reaching ANN, the police officer assaulted an unidentified 17-year-old young woman at a local beach.

Reports indicate that the police officer, while on the beach with the young lady, propositioned her for sex and when he was denied, he allegedly raped her and threw her underwear in the sea.

The police officer then allegedly threatened the young lady from making a report to the police station.

    UPDATE

Upon posting the story the family of the young lady who was raped called ANN to clarify some information in the story.

According to the young lady who wishes to remain anonymous, she clarified that she was not on the beach with the police officer.

She also clarified that she is familiar with the police officer as they live in the same area.

According to her, she accepted a ride home from the police officer, because of her familiarity with him, after leaving the College .

On their way home, the police officer pulled off on the road to the Warracou Recreational Park under the guise of collecting something from someone.

He then proceeded to pull at her pants, wrap her underwear around a rock and throw it into the sea and then rape her.

She on her own accord contacted the Sexual Offences Unit of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadine Police Force and reported the rape.

The young asserted that she did not give consent to any form of sexual contact.

She said that she is still traumatized by the incident.
