Invest SVG, the agency responsible for promoting investments in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, recently hosted a tour for two prospective investors from a prominent corporation interested in the logistics industry within the region. This tour showcased the site of the upcoming port facility, a project poised to transform the Kingstown waterfront with substantial infrastructural enhancements.

Mr. Lenski Douglas, the Assistant Project Manager for the Government, conducted the tour of the new port project, providing valuable insights and lending his knowledge to explain the vision of the Port Facility. The tour began at the Batch Plant, where the cement is generated for the site. Mr. Douglas indicated that the platform that comprises the site utilized over one million tons of sand to create. He also indicated that the entire program for the Modern Port Facility was comprised of three phases, of which this initial infrastructural phase is phase one. Mr. Douglas offered a comprehensive overview of the ambitious reach of this undertaking by the GOSVG, its potential impact on the region’s economic outlook, and the increased connectivity that will be offered.

From the new Port Facility, the group proceeded to the present port site in Campden Park, where they gained insight into its current operations, challenges, and the need for renovation. Discussions centered on the transition process once the new Port Facility becomes operational and the potential for repurposing the existing port operations.

The tour concluded with a visit to the Kingstown Cruise Ship Terminal, underscoring the importance of tourism and maritime activity to the economy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The investors had the opportunity to witness the bustling nature of the terminal and explore potential synergies between tourism and port operations in the nation.

Invest SVG’s Executive Director, Mr. Glen Beache reiterated the agency’s commitment to facilitating investment in strategic sectors, such as the port area. “We aim to create an enabling environment for investment that will drive sustainable economic growth and development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. “

With building and interest growing, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is poised to capitalize on its strategic location and emerging opportunities in the maritime sector. Invest SVG remains dedicated to fostering partnerships and facilitating investments that will unlock the full potential of the port area, driving prosperity and progress for the nation.
