In April 2024, the police arrested and charged Rudolph Marshall, a 53-year-old cart operator from Lowmans Leeward, and Saville Keir, a 52-year-old farmer from Biabou, for drug-related offenses. Both were charged with possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply it to another person, as well as drug trafficking.
The accused men were found to be in possession of 554 grams of cannabis, which they intended to sell for the purpose of drug trafficking. The offenses were committed at the Kingstown Wharf at approximately 5:50 pm on April 11, 2024.
Marshall and Keir subsequently appeared before the Serious Offences Court. Marshall pleaded guilty to the possession of a controlled drug and was fined $500.00 ECC. He was also charged with drug trafficking but pleaded not guilty, and the charge was subsequently withdrawn. Keir, on the other hand, pleaded guilty to both possession of a controlled drug and drug trafficking. He was fined $500.00 ECC for the offense of drug trafficking, and was reprimanded and discharged for the offense of possession of a controlled drug.
It is clear that the police take drug offenses very seriously and will not hesitate to arrest and charge individuals who engage in such activities. Marshall and Keir have been held accountable for their actions, and this should serve as a warning to others who may be involved in drug trafficking.
