It is imperative that the public is kept well-informed about any significant developments in ongoing investigations, and the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is committed to ensuring just that. Therefore, we would like to provide an update on the tragic incident that was reported in the Park Hill area earlier this month as a continuation of our unwavering efforts to uphold complete transparency.

On the 8th of April 2024, law enforcement officials made a distressing discovery of two partially burned bodies near the Park Hill Playing Field. The deceased have been identified as Brenton Barker and Kelvert “Vert” Smart, both of whom were residents of Park Hill. An extensive investigation was conducted, which led to the arrest and formal charging of Aldon Thomas, also from Park Hill, with the murders of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart. It is alleged that Mr. Thomas, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the deaths of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart by an unlawful act, contravening Chapter 171, Section 159, subsection 1 of the revised edition of the laws of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The alleged offenses were committed between the 6th and 9th of April 2024, within the second magisterial district of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Kingstown Mortuary. The examination revealed that both men sustained multiple chop wounds and extensive thermal injuries. It was determined that both victims were deceased prior to being burned.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force continues its rigorous investigation into this heinous crime and ensures that all evidence is meticulously analyzed to serve justice. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Emergency at 999/911, the Criminal Investigations Department at 784-456-1810, the Georgetown Police Station 784-458-6229 or the Colonarie Police Station 784-458-6250. All information received will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
