May 29, 2024 – In a collaborative effort to combat crime and foster community spirit, the Pan against Crime Committee (PAC), the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), the National Commission on Crime Prevention (NCCP), and local churches will host a Gospel Concert on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The event will take place at Cole’s Gap in Vermont, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The PAC initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, was launched on February 20, 2008. Its core mission is to utilize the steel pan to engage young people and divert them from criminal activities.
The concert promises a night of inspiring performances, featuring praise and worship led by a combined worship team. Participating churches will showcase their talents through solos, duets, poems, and instrumental pieces. Notably, Genesis and Epic Steel Orchestras will deliver powerful performances on the steel pan.
Spiritual guidance will be provided by Pastor Hollis Browne of the Vermont Seventh Day Adventist Church, who will deliver a sermonette, and Bishop Johnny Malcolm of the Mount Moriah Divine House of Prayer, who will offer a prayer dedicated to the nation’s youth.
The event will also feature speeches from Acting Commissioner of Police Enville Williams and a representative from the Ministry of National Security. Musical support will be provided by the Police Band.
The organizers extend a warm invitation to the public and the media to attend and cover this significant event, aimed at promoting peace and unity in the community.
