    Boys Dominate Top Spots in 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment

    Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines – In an impressive display of academic excellence, male students have dominated the top ranks of the 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA). The Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation announced the preliminary results, showcasing the exceptional performances of these young scholars.

    This year’s CPEA saw 1,737 out of 1,745 registered Grade 6 students sitting for the examination on May 16, 2024. The overall performance was commendable, with 87.68% of students meeting the prescribed standard, an increase from last year’s 85.17%.

    Ethan Richard Kent from Sugar Mill Academy emerged as the top performer, achieving the highest average score of 98.6%. His perfect score of 100% in Mathematics further highlighted his academic prowess. Sugar Mill Academy celebrated another triumph with Darius Jonathan Humphrey, who secured the second rank.

    St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School also demonstrated outstanding academic strength, with male students Evan Eddison Scott and Rio Ezra Fitzpatrick securing the third and fourth ranks, respectively. Prayash Parida from Windsor Primary rounded out the top five.

    The top ten performers are as follows:

    1. Ethan Richard Kent, Sugar Mill Academy
    2. Darius Jonathan Humphrey, Sugar Mill Academy
    3. Evan Eddison Scott, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic
    4. Rio Ezra Fitzpatrick, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic
    5. Prayash Parida, Windsor Primary
    6. Yohan Francis Burke, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic
    7. Shaya Alona Altidor, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic (Female, tied for 6th)
    8. Khalil David King, Questelles Government
    9. J’Vonnique Charissa Hamlet, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic (Female)
    10. Gabriella Naomi Wood, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic (Female, tied for 10th)
    11. Jordi Lleo Lewis, Sugar Mill Academy (tied for 10th)

    In the subject-specific performance, boys continued to excel. Notable achievements include:

    • Mathematics: Ethan Richard Kent (Sugar Mill Academy), Kyssondria Scott (South Rivers Methodist), Sonjay Lewis (Spring Village Methodist) – all with 100%
    • Science: Prayash Parida (Windsor Primary), Yohan Francis Burke (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic), K-Ailla Jv-Ana Jackson (Union Methodist/New Grounds Primary), Ronnyra Quinisa May (Windsor Primary) – all with 100%
    • Language Arts: Rio Ezra Fitzpatrick (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic) – 98.67%
    • Social Studies: Evan Eddison Scott (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic), Timothy Isaiah Lewis (Kingstown Preparatory) – 97.3%

    The Ministry of Education attributes this success to the dedication and hard work of the students, teachers, and parents. With 54 out of 67 schools achieving pass rates above 80%, the collective effort towards academic excellence in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is evident.
