Police heads and PM to meet today

A meeting is expected among the top brass of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force today.
The proposed meeting comes following the most recent homicide recorded for 2024.
Members of the public awoke to the news that Ossie Glasgow was shot and killed at his home during a robbery.
The incident occurred sometime between last night and this morning.
And Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr Ralph Gonsalves addressed the issue this morning on radio.
“This morning amidst my optimism, I am also tinged with great sadness because I received a report this morning that a householder was shot and killed in the East St George area as a consequence of a robbery – the male householder was shot and killed,” Gonsalves said.
According to the prime minister, the police would be redoubling all efforts to catch the culprit(s).
And that at midday today, he made a request to receive a report from the leadership of the police – not just on the latest incident – but a full report from the police as to what they were doing and additionally what they were required to do.
Commissioner of Police (Ag) Enville Williams was presently out of the state, Gonsalves said, but he said that he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Trevor Bailey and that he had summoned the meeting with the DPC, the other Assistant Commissioners of Police and the Superintendents.
“So that we can have not a prolonged meeting, but an action meeting,” Gonsalves said.
He said that that was all that he was prepared to say on the issue now adding that the public can be assured that there will be ‘particular responses’ from the authorities.
“We cannot allow a small minority – a tiny minority of criminals to disturb the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful country,” Gonsalves said.
