Residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are being urged to remain vigilant as a flash-flood watch has been issued until 6:00 PM today. The warning comes in light of the passage of a tropical wave that is expected to bring cloudy skies, frequent moderate to heavy showers, and isolated thunderstorms to the region.

Meteorologists have forecast rainfall accumulations of approximately 50mm (2 inches), with higher amounts anticipated in mountainous areas. Given the already saturated soil conditions, any additional rainfall could result in flash flooding and land slippage.

The current advisory, which initially indicated a low risk of flooding, has been upgraded to a flash-flood watch. This alert signifies that conditions are favorable for flooding and that there is a potential risk during the watch period. Authorities have cautioned residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding, landslides, or near rivers and streams to be prepared and take necessary precautions.

Should conditions deteriorate further, this watch may be elevated to a warning. The public is advised to stay tuned for updates and heed any advisories issued by local authorities.
