Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is set to hold consultations with residents of Union Island impacted by Hurricane Beryl. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 3 PM at the Methodist Church Hall. A second consultation is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, at 1 PM in Clifton, Union Island.

These meetings aim to address the government’s response to the disaster, including relief efforts, recovery and reconstruction plans, and the scheduled reopening of schools in September.

Hurricane Beryl caused significant destruction on Union Island, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives. High winds and heavy rains damaged homes, infrastructure, and the island’s power supply. Many residents were displaced, seeking shelter in public facilities and private homes. The consultations are part of ongoing efforts to support those affected and to discuss plans for rebuilding and restoring normalcy to the community.
