The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has taken decisive action against violent crime by arresting and charging Douglas Baptiste of Greiggs in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Rakeem Matthews. Matthews was found by his brother on the night of August 19, 2024, with gunshot wounds behind his home.

Baptiste faces charges of murder, possession of a 9mm pistol (an unlicensed firearm), and possession of four rounds of 9mm ammunition without a license. These charges were formally laid on August 21, 2024.

The RSVGPF is committed to pursuing justice for these heinous acts and continues to investigate the case rigorously. The police urge the public to support their efforts by providing any information that may assist in maintaining safety and security. Information can be reported confidentially to Police Emergency at 911/999, the Vermont Police Station, the Biabou Police Station, or any trusted police officer.
