Vincentians will need ETA to travel to the UK by January 2025

The UK Government is making significant changes to its border and immigration system by introducing a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system. This system is part of the government’s plan to digitize the UK border and immigration process, enhancing security and streamlining the travel experience for visitors.

    Key details:

Starting 27 November 2024, non-Europeans can apply for an ETA, and it will be mandatory for travel from 8 January 2025.

For Europeans, the ETA will be available from 5 March 2025 and required for travel starting 2 April 2025.

The ETA costs £10 and allows multiple trips to the UK over two years or until the traveller’s passport expires, whichever is sooner. Each trip can last up to six months.

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) visitors already require an ETA to enter the UK.

ETAs are linked to a traveller’s passport digitally, ensuring enhanced security by conducting pre-travel checks.

The UK Government is also transitioning migrants who live, work, or study in the UK from physical immigration documents to eVisas. Current holders of Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and other physical documents are urged to create an online account to access their eVisa, as BRPs will expire by 31 December 2024.

For more information about ETAs and eVisas, individuals can visit the UK government website or contact the Political Officer, Seon Samuel, at [email protected] or 1(784) 493-7293.
