In an ongoing partnership with the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), a two-year scholarship has been awarded to Ceronique Mitchell, a talented netballer, to further her education at the SVG Community College while continuing to pursue her passion for netball.
This scholarship is part of a three-year partnership agreement between BOSVG and the SVG Netball Association, during which three scholarships have been awarded—two in 2023 and one in 2024. The President of the SVG Netball Association, Ms. Natasha Baptiste, expressed her pride in the program, stating that the scholarship continues to be the flagship of their partnership with the bank. “We focus not only on the athletic ability of our athletes but also on their educational advancement, and we are pleased that BOSVG has made this possible,” she remarked.
The 2024 scholarship recipient, Ms. Ceronique Mitchell, is a graduate of St. Vincent Girls’ High School, where she served as captain of the school’s Senior netball team, which placed third in the 2023 School’s Netball Tournament. In addition to her athletic achievements, Ms. Mitchell performed exceptionally well in her CSEC examinations, gaining passes in all subject areas.
“We have no doubt that Ms. Mitchell will be a true ambassador for both the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the SVG Netball Association,” said Ms. Baptiste.
Patricia John, the Marketing & Communications Manager at BOSVG, also expressed the bank’s enthusiasm for supporting Ceronique. “The Bank is thrilled to award this scholarship to Ceronique Mitchell, who has proven to be an inspiring female netballer. Supporting her journey empowers young women to chase their dreams and break barriers in sports. We believe investing in Ceronique is not just an investment in the future of women in athletics but also an investment in the future of our country,” Ms. John stated.
Upon receiving the scholarship, Ms. Mitchell shared her gratitude, saying, “I am very honoured to have been selected as the 2024 recipient of this scholarship and will ensure that I make great use of this opportunity.”
When asked about the role netball has played in her life, Ceronique reflected, “Netball has helped in my time management and to improve on my leadership skills, having captained my school’s netball team.” She further committed to making netball a long-lasting part of her personal growth and development.
As the partnership between BOSVG and the SVG Netball Association continues to flourish, the focus remains on inspiring, growing, and excelling through sports and education—values both organizations are deeply committed to. The Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as their slogan says, is “giving you more.”
