Kingstown, St. Vincent (October 14, 2024) — Police have arrested and charged 21-year-old Jevonte John, a bus conductor from Barrouallie, in connection with the murder of 42-year-old contractor Jeffon Junior Norton, also of Barrouallie. The incident, which occurred on Friday, October 11, 2024, marks the eighth murder recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in just 12 days, underscoring a troubling rise in violent crime.

According to preliminary reports, Norton sustained multiple stab wounds during an altercation in Barrouallie. He was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of death.

John appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Monday, October 14, 2024. Due to the indictable nature of the charge, he was not required to enter a plea. The case has been adjourned as investigations continue.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Further details will be released as they become available.

This latest incident contributes to a sharp increase in violent crime across the country, raising concerns among citizens and law enforcement.
