    SVGFF Executive member resigns

    Koyana Horne

In a surprising development, Koyana Horne has resigned from the Executive Council of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) with immediate effect. Horne, who was elected to the position on March 21, 2024, served under the leadership of President Otashie Spring.

In a detailed resignation letter, Horne expressed deep concerns about the governance of the Federation, highlighting issues of exclusion, secrecy, and financial mismanagement. She claimed that critical decisions were being made without the input of all Council members and that key financial reports were withheld from the Executive Council. Horne also criticized the establishment of an “Emergency Committee,” which she says acted as an inner circle within the Council, bypassing democratic processes.

Among the other serious allegations were misrepresented Council Minutes, questionable appointments to various committees, and the lack of clear mandates for those committees. Horne also raised concerns over the handling of meetings, citing last-minute notices for decisions with significant financial implications.

“I cannot, in good conscience, remain part of an executive council that operates in this manner,” Horne stated in her letter. “I value my integrity and will continue to support the development of football, but I cannot be associated with such governance practices.”

This resignation marks a major shake-up within the SVGFF, raising questions about the leadership of President Spring and the future direction of football governance in the country.

The SVG Football Federation has yet to release an official statement in response to Horne’s resignation.
