The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment has received a draft policy document titled “Standards for Quality Healthcare Services for Adolescents in St. Vincent and the Grenadines” from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The policy, which aims to establish tailored and inclusive healthcare standards for adolescents, will soon be presented to Cabinet for review.

Health Minister Hon. St. Clair “Jimmy” Prince commended the healthcare professionals and adolescents whose contributions shaped the document. He stressed that the real test lies in implementing the standards across all levels of the healthcare system, noting the need for commitment, resources, and collaboration from all stakeholders.

The policy was developed under a project implemented by UN Women and UNFPA, with funding from Global Affairs Canada.

In a related initiative, the “Sexual Health Education Workbook” in braille was presented to the Society of and For the Blind at the UN Common Ground. This resource, created by the UNFPA and the St. Vincent Planned Parenthood Association, addresses sexual and reproductive health issues for visually impaired individuals.

Both initiatives underscore the ongoing efforts to enhance inclusive healthcare and education services in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
