Representing Black Sands Swim Squad (BSSS), Kione DeShong made waves in the Boys 11–12 age group 100m breaststroke, clocking a new national record of 1:13.13. His time eclipsed the previous mark of 1:13.44, set 13 years ago by Olympian Nikolas Sylvester. Hot on his heels, Caghry Williams of Blue Marlins also surpassed the old record with an impressive 1:13.31, placing just behind DeShong.

To highlight the calibre of these performances, DeShong and Williams now rank number 2 and number 3, respectively, in the British swimming rankings for their age group.

In the Boys 15–16 age group, BSSS standout Matthew Ballah continued his dominant run by breaking his own national record in the 50m backstroke. Ballah posted a time of 27.30 seconds, improving on his previous best of 27.76.

BSSS Head Coach Kyle Dougan praised the swimmers’ achievements, saying, “These performances reflect the outstanding talent we have in competitive swimming in SVG. I sincerely hope the SVGSF will continue to host time trials like these, giving our swimmers more chances to grow and shine.”
