Kingstown, St. Vincent – The Electrical Inspectorate Division has unveiled a new Electrical Inspectorate Management Information System (EIMS), marking a major step toward modernizing regulatory services and improving safety standards across the nation’s electrical sector.

The new platform allows wiremen, homeowners, and business operators to apply for electrical licenses, renewals, and inspections entirely online, eliminating the need for time consuming trips to the office. For the first time, applicants can track their submissions from start to finish, right up to the issuance of a certificate required for connection to St. Vincent Electricity Services.

“This system promises convenience, transparency, and efficiency,” said Mr. Leron France, Officer at the Ministry of Transport, Works, Lands and Physical Planning’s Electrical Inspectorate Division. “Within 15 minutes, someone living in Fancy or Chateaubelair can complete an application online, saving hours of travel time.”

The EIMS also integrates online payment options and provides 24/7 access, ensuring stakeholders can manage applications at their convenience. For those less familiar with digital tools, the Division has installed dedicated computers at its office and assigned staff to assist applicants.

Challenges such as limited computer literacy have been anticipated, with support available via WhatsApp or direct calls to the Division at 1784-4927642, (mobile) 1784-4562563

Beyond streamlining applications, the system replaces multiple paper forms, including wiremen’s license applications, renewals, and installation notifications, while also enabling inspectors to issue defect notices when installations fail to meet national electrical codes.

Officials say the initiative represents a huge leap forward for the department, promising greater accountability, faster service, and improved safety oversight in electrical installations nationwide.
