KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent and the Grenadines — Governor-General His Excellency Stanley Kendrick John, KC, has expressed strong support for a historical learning initiative being undertaken by a visiting delegation from The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
The delegation, which is participating in the Constant Carmichael Study Tour, visited Government House on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
During the visit, the Governor-General welcomed the students and researchers and praised the initiative for helping to bring the nation’s history to life.
He noted that visits to historical sites allow students, scholars and members of the public to gain a deeper understanding of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ history and cultural heritage through firsthand exposure to important locations and artefacts.
His Excellency said Government House was pleased to support the project and expressed hope that the tour would enrich the students’ learning experience while increasing public awareness of the country’s historical legacy.
He also said the research and materials gathered during the initiative could help foster a greater appreciation of the nation’s heritage and provide valuable insight into an important period in the historical development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Governor-General thanked Dr. Cleve Scott, Co-Investigator of the Constant Carmichael Project, and the participating students for visiting Government House.
He wished the delegation success as it continued its research activities.
