    Tradewind exercise closes this Friday

    Exercise Tradewinds 2019, Phase Two (2) will culminate on Friday June 21, 2019. The occasion will be marked by an official closing ceremony scheduled to commence at 10:00 am the said day at the Victoria Park. The following persons will deliver remarks at the event:

    · Mr. Colin John, Commissioner of Police

    · Her Excellency, Ms. Linda Taglialatela, United States Ambassador to Barbados and the OECS

    · Lieutenant General Michael Plehn, Military Deputy Commander – US Southern Command

    The featured address will be delivered by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade, Hon. Sir. Louis Straker.

    Prior to the commencement of the closing ceremony, troops from the nineteen (19) participating countries will parade from Central Police Station to the Victoria Park.

    Members of the general public and the media are cordially invited to attend

    Exercise Tradewinds is a combined, joint exercise conducted in three phases focused on building the capacity of US and Caribbean Forces to better respond to natural disasters, as well as land and maritime threats. Participating countries look to improve security-mission and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief responses through an exchange of knowledge and expertise.

    Exercise Tradewinds is approved by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and is sponsored by the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in conjunct
