Dominica girls retained their WinLott CBN Windward islands schools basketball title on the stroke of midnight as day 6 of that competition continued at Benjamin’s Park Friday.
The girls basketball title capped off a dominate run for the team as they made light work of the competition in the tournament.
As a matter of fact the girls basketball team conceded a total of just 28 points in the final two games.
On Friday the girls swept past Grenada winning 46-18.
Celena Langlais had 8 points and 13 rebounds, Shernyka Bruno 6 points and 10 rebounds, and Jeanne Seraphine 6 points and 10 rebounds.
Chantele Bartholomew had 11 points and 7 rebounds for Grenada.
In the other girls basketball match, St Lucia beat St Vincent 43-34 to secure a second place finish in girls basketball.
Ma George scored 13 points and pulled down 10 points for St lucia, while Makeisha Lama had 15 and 8 rebounds for St Vincent.
Dominica won the girls basketball, with St Lucia second, Grenada third and St Vincent 4th.
Meantime in the boys division, Dominica kept their chances of winning the title alive with an impressive come from behind win over St Lucia.
Dominica held St lucia to just 4 points in the 4th Quarter as they erased a double digit deficit to take the match 44-37 under slippery conditions.
Nathan Sebastien had 15 points and 22 rebounds for Dominica, Jonathan Mills 11 points and 12 rebounds.
While for St Lucia, Keon Allen had 17 points.
The other match between Grenada and St Vincent was abandoned because of rain.
Meantime in football yesterday, Grenada kept their perfect start to the campaign in tact with a 2-nil win over St Lucia in soggy conditions at Benjamin’s Park.
Stefan Abraham opened up the scoring in the 27th minute of play, and then Joshua Isaac doubled the lead in the 57th minute of play.
The other match between Dominica and St Vincent was called off due to water logged conditions at Benjamin’s Park.
And in Volleyball, St Lucia came from a set down to get past Dominica in girls volleyball.
Dominica took the opening set, 18-25, but St Lucia rallied back to win the next 3 sets 25-21, 25-23, and 25-17.
In the other game Grenada beat St Vincent in straight sets, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-23.
The Games continue on Saturday where a number of titles will be up for grabs.
First the boys volleyball title will be decided. Dominica meets St Vincent at 8:30am to be followed by St Lucia and Grenada at 11am at Benjamin’s Park.
Netball will also be decided tomorrow.
St Lucia plays St Vincent at 3:30pm, and then Dominica plays Grenada at 5pm, both games are at Benjamin’s Park.
And the boys basketball title will be decided in the evening at the St Joseph Hard Courts.
St Lucia plays St Vincent at 7:30pm, and Dominica meets Grenada at 8:30pm.
