    President of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation attended the FIBA World Congress

    President of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation recently attended the FIBA World Congress 2019 that was held in Beijing China 28-30th August.

    This meeting was attended by over 170 national basketball federations from Fibas five Zones; Americas, Africas, Oceania, Asia and Europe. The congress saw the Installation of the New FIBA President Hermanes Niang who hails from the African Zone. The world congress highlighted the achievements of the body over the past five years and showcased the many strides made in developing the sport of basketball globally. These plans including the Sustainable development goals being incorporated into the sport of basketball. Attendees were opened to breakout sessions that dealt with topics such as developing mini basketball, developing national Federations and the building of the 3×3 brand of basketball as a catalyst to further propel the sport and gain the interest of people as players and fans from all walks of life.

    The President of the SVGBF made several connections towards seeking to develope the sport of basketball here in SVG, holding several discussions around the plans of the SVGBF for the next four years.

    These plans and projections will be presented to the General body of the Federation at a duly called meeting and press conference.

    The attendance at the Congress ended with attendees being treated to the opening Ceremony at the 2019 Fiba World Cup as well as attendance to two first round opening games that featured Poland vs Venezuela and The Ivory Coast vs The Peoples Republic of China. Both games ended in double digit losses for Venezuela and The Ivory Coast
