The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on Monday (Nov. 25) launched the CariSECURE Police Records Management Information System (PRMIS) at the Questelles Police Station.

The system will improve the data collection for crimes committed and assist policy makers through analysis of this data, by transitioning PRMIS from a paper-based reporting to a digital format. This will allow investigating officers to capture real-time data on reported incidents.

Minister of National Security, Prime Minister, the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, delivered the featured address.

During his remarks, he said, “My government’s policy of being tough on crime and the causes of crime is regarded as a solemn pledge made back in 1998 as we campaigned in opposition, presenting a plan that I take this country forward.”

He continued, “over the years, we’ve had periods of challenge but we have always worked, adopting new measures including increasing thw budget for security that accounts for increased enrollment in the local constabulary, improved physical facilities, increase training for officers women.”

The partners for this project are, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Prime Minister thanked them for this “very important tool as we continue to work together to fight local and transitional crime.”
