    Girls High School and Grammar School Tops CSEC Examinations 2019

    Preliminary results of the May/June 2019 Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (CSEC) were received on August 12th, 2019, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This year, 2478 candidates were registered. Of these, 817 were private candidates and lGGl were school candidates.

    There were 1641 school candidates sitting 11, 222 subject entries in 31 subject areas, from 26 secondary schools.

    Approximately 74.33% of the subject entries were awarded Grades I — III (the corresponding figure in 2018 was 74.67 and 73.25 in 2017).

    This year, 15.62% of the passes were at Grade I level, 35.53% at Grade II and 45.85% at Grade III. Last year’s figures were 16.82% at Grade I, 37.29% at Grade II and 40.89% at Grade III.

    The following students had outstanding performance in this year’s exam:

    Zuania Baptiste (Girls’ High School) — sat 14 subjects; obtained 12-grade ones and 2-grade twos.

    Lonyé Browne (Girls’ High School) — sat 15 subjects;  obtained 8-grade ones, 6-grade twos and 1 grade three.

    Adiah Holder (Girls’ High School) — sat 14 subjects;  obtained 13-grade ones and 1 grade 2.
