Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett takes the issue of punctuality in his Court very seriously.
Burnett voiced his displeasure at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, when he noticed that the police officers from the Process Department were absent.
The Court, which commenced at 9 a.m., had already started and the Magistrate was dealing with a matter.
“The Process Staff is not here,” he observed.
“The Court starts at 9 a.m.,” Prosecutor Curlene Samuel acknowledged.
“No, they (Process Staff) think the Court starts at 25 past 9,” the Magistrate replied.
“That’s the time they roll in here,” the Prosecutor said.
Burnett contended that he could not help being serious on the issue of punctuality because he was trained that way.
“If I am here for 9, why can’t they be here for 9?” he questioned.
The Senior Magistrate has been consistent when it comes to punctuality at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.
