Mostly fair conditions will be experienced during the next 48 hours. On occasion, skies will get cloudy and a few shallow showers are likely over some portion of the country. A tropical wave will approach the islands around Tuesday, to affect Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Model guidance is indicating a fair amount of moisture associated with this wave, therefore some moderate to heavy showers are forecast around Wednesday across SVG. In addition, haze intrusion across the islands is forecast to thin out around Tuesday. Breezy conditions will be experienced across the island chain during the next 48 hours as the Atlantic high pressure system remains the dominant feature across the region. A predominantly easterly moderate to strong (25km/h to 40km/h) wind flow will continue across SVG, decreasing slightly in speed (20km/h-30km/h) Monday into Tuesday.
Sea conditions will remain moderate in open water with swells peaking at 1.5m on the western coasts and 2.0m on the eastern coasts. Slight sea conditions (1.0m-1.2m) is possible on the western coast around Tuesday. Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season, was recently formed off the East Coast of Florida. This system poses no threat to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The SVG Meteorological Services is advising the public to be prepared this hurricane season.
