The New Today- Two Vincentian nationals jointly charged for the offences of Money Laundering and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering, by having in their possession cash amounting to $10,000.00 Euros, have pleaded guilty in a court in Grenada.
35-year old Lamar Condice, and his 28-year old countryman Elvis Harold, both Fishermen of Clear Valley in St. Vincent appeared at the St. George’s No.2 Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to answer to the charges where they pleaded guilty to the offences.
Condice and Harold were fined EC$5000.00 each by sitting Magistrate George Prime who ordered them to pay the fines forthwith and in default serve one year at Her Majesty’s Prisons.
Legal sources told THE NEW TODAY that the men paid the money in order to avoid the prison sentence.
Condice and Harold were nabbed by officers attached to the Northern Division on June 14 following the interception of a blue fishing boat at Diamond Rock.
The men and the boat were taken to Harvey Vale, Carriacou, where a search was conducted resulting in the confiscation of approximately ten thousand Euros.
Magistrate Prime ordered that the 10, 000 Euros found on the Vincentians be forfeited to the State.
In recent years, most of the persons nabbed by the police in Grenada for drug-related offences came from St. Vincent & The Grenadines.
Meanwhile the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has announced that a search is on for a local fisherman reported as missing on the sea.
The police report said: “A marine search is ongoing for a local Fisherman who reportedly left Fort Jeudy Bay on a fishing expedition aboard a 14-feet blue (outside) and red (inside) coloured fishing boat on Wednesday 17th June, 2020.”
The man was reportedly about two nautical miles outside Point Salines when he encountered engine problems. An early afternoon and late evening search on Wednesday by a small vessel and the Coast Guard respectively, proved futile in locating him.
A marine search, which resumed today, June 18th 2020, has also proved futile thus far.
Vessels in the area are urged to keep a lookout for the missing boat”
