On the 8th day of October 2020, Vincentian 2012 National Exhibition Scholar and 2019 Chevening Scholar, Mr. Jeshua Jôvan Bardoo, was called to the Bar in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Mr. Bardoo, who recently completed an LLM International Human Rights Law at Brunel University London, has a history of academic excellence. Moreover, he has a long track record of service, having been a part of various organizations in and outside of SVG.
His call was moved by the Honourable Attorney General Mr. Jaundy Martin, and seconded by Crown Counsel Mrs. Cerepha Harper–Joseph. The Honourable Justice Esco L. Henry presided over the hearing via Zoom.
His maiden speech was one of thankfulness. Mr. Bardoo thanked his family, making special note of his mother Joan Bardoo-Black and sister Ariel Bardoo, teachers, lecturers, professors, friends, employers, employees, acquaintances, and even strangers for their help, assistance, and advice throughout the years.
Mr. Bardoo hopes to use his knowledge, skills, talents, and resources, where possible, to uphold the integrity of the legal profession, to help develop his country and the region, and to empower others.
In her remarks, the Honourable Justice Esco L. Henry, commended Mr. Bardoo for his attitude of thankfulness and she encouraged him to continue to learn in the legal profession, as no-one, not even those who have been practicing for many years, know it all, and even those who have been practicing for many years can still learn from new attorneys.
Mr. Bardoo encourages all young people to believe in their dreams, to work hard for the things that they want in life, to press forward despite the challenges that they may face, to never let the negative opinions of others affect their lives, to be agents of change for good in society, and to know that they are the future, they are capable, and they can do great things.
