Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this afternoon, October 29, 2020, the reconfinement is effective from midnight tonight everywhere in France but only in Martinique with regard to overseas. A government decision that is not really a surprise.

Martinique will therefore be confined at midnight (the night of October 29 to 30, 2020). Like all the hexagonal territory, the island therefore returns to maximum protection mode against the coronavirus epidemic.

For the moment the details of this new confinement, which should see the closure of schools, colleges, high schools or even nurseries will only be communicated from 4 pm, in Martinique this Thursday, October 29, 2020.

It is at this time that the prefect, Stanislas Cazelles, is organizing a press conference to specify the outlines of this exceptional measure which is not really a surprise since in one week Martinique has recorded more than 700 new cases of coronavirus
