Public service Union condemn the act of violence committed against the Prime Minister

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Public Service Union (PSU) strongly condemns the act of violence which was committed against the Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves – Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines – during a protest in front of the House of Parliament on Thursday, August 5, 2021. We would like to advise the general public that the PSU does not condone any form of violence and distances itself from the attack on the Prime Minister.

The PSU’s participation in the protest was to express opposition to the Bill to amend Section 27B and 43B (2) (a) of the Public Health Act Chapter 300 which was being put before Parliament.  The amendments to the Act would strip away the constitutional rights of Vincentians since it would subject persons to medical treatments and testing without their consent.

The PSU is truly glad that the injury sustained by the Prime Minister was not fatal and wishes him a speedy recovery.
