Opposition (New Democratic Party) Parliamentary Representative for East Kingstown- Fitzgerald Bramble is committed to see the realization of a facility for the Performing Arts.
Bramble made the bold pledge last Sunday afternoon as he gave his maiden address at the annual Graduation Ceremony of the Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra, held at the Sion Hill Village Hard Court.
Noting that he was not making a promise, Bramble stated boldly: “I want to make a commitment …. With God’s help, before I get out of active politics, I will do my level best to ensure that the much-needed (cultural) Performing Arts Centre will be constructed in the constituency of East Kingstown and in the community of Sion Hill … I give you that commitment!”
Bramble added that even though he is not in government, he is welcoming others to join with him in making it a reality.
“Let’s get together and give this community what it deserves, because this community has been at the forefront of sport and culture in this country for years and it is a shame, in my view, that we don’t have a proper facility to continue to develop the young people,” the East Kingstown Constituency Parliamentary Representative expounded.
Bramble, who was elected to Parliament on 5th November last year, referred to Sion Hill as the “heartbeat” of East Kingstown, hence the choice for the proposed Performing Arts Centre.
Master of Ceremony, cultural icon- David “Darkie” Williams, offered a word of caution when he reminded the gathering there were proposed designs of such a facility submitted for consideration since 1973, yet it has not come to fruition.
