    Issued: 6:00 pm Saturday, 9th October, 2021
Showers accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorm activity are expected to intensify
across St. Vincent and the Grenadines from tonight due to a trough system which is currently
affecting the Windward Islands. In addition, a favourable upper-level environment would
provide support to this system and rainfall accumulations of 100 – 125 mm (approximately 4-5
inches) with isolated higher amounts in mountainous areas are possible during the watch period.
Multiple stations across the mainland have already recorded rainfall totals in excess of 50mm
(approximately 2 inches) within the last 24 hours. Due to the already saturated nature of the
soils, the weather advisory which is already in effect for St. Vincent & the Grenadines has
been upgraded to a flash-flood watch and will remain in effect until 12:00 noon Monday
    11th, October 2021.
Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and
    streams should exercise extreme caution.
A Flood-Watch is issued when conditions are favourable and there exists the possibility of
    flooding during the watch period.
This flash-flood watch may be upgraded to a warning if conditions warrant.
