As part of its thrust to be a good corporate citizen, the St. Vincent Brewery Limited plays an active role in the development of our people and culture through sponsorships and donations. This was manifested through two recent donations, which were made to the Country Roots Volleyball club of Dickson Village and High-performance Sports club of Central Leeward under the Vita Malt Brand.
The donations were used to purchase uniforms for the teams, as well as reconnect the floodlights at the Hard Court, which is located in Dickson Village. This will facilitate the clubs in hosting evening matches and various fundraising events.
Mrs. Shafia London Country Head, ABI (St.Vincent Brewery Limited) took time out of her busy schedule to attend both events, and interact with some of the young persons present. At the High-performance Sports club handover, she encouraged the young people to stay positive and to continue excelling in Sports as many opportunities exist for career paths through sports. She was pleased for Vitamalt to be a part of their development and encouraged them to be great ambassadors of the brand in all aspects of their lives.
An event was also held to introduce the very active Country Roots Volleyball Team to the Dickson community. The event, which had over 8 teams including some from visiting volleyball clubs participating, was well attended and the team well received.
Alicia Glasgow of the Country Roots Volleyball club, spoke about the various plans for the future of the club to expand beyond Volleyball. She expressed that her “community is sports based with many talented persons in other areas of sports such as netball, soccer, cricket to name a few”.
Alicia also stated that the community of Dickson does not host many events. The reconnection of the lights, which were disconnected for many years, means the community members are enthusiastic about them “putting a bit more life“ or in the words of the St. Vincent Brewery “Vitalize the community” through sports, fun day activities and grassroots programs. She emphasized that these will be done to keep the youths engaged as opposed to liming on the block.
Alicia expressed her gratitude on behalf of the 6 team club, to the Vita Malt brand and hopes to have a continued relationship with the St.Vincent Brewery Limited.
