The United Nations General Assembly, on Monday 24th July, 2023, declared August 11th as World Steelpan Day. The Youlou Pan Movement is desirous of celebrating with the Caribbean and the rest of the world, this momentous occasion in the steelpan artform.
After meeting with our member bands, the Movement has decided to use this opportunity to showcase the importance of this day in a grand celebration on Friday 11th August, 2023.
To this end, the Youlou Pan Movement is having a street concert on that day to commemorate World Steelpan Day. Our steel orchestras have already committed to performing for this occasion. We are therefore asking for your media house to be present to celebrate this day with us.
The event begins at 5:00 pm in the vicinity of the Immigration Office in Kingstown.
