The Rotary Club of St. Vincent is one of the recipients of the 2023 grants compliments Republic Bank EC’s Power to Make A Difference (PMAD) programme, launched in 2022. This year, the Club received funding through this programme for the purchase of a school bus for the School for Children with Special Needs.

President Mikasha Ramsaran receives keys from Chairman of the Power to Make a Difference Advisory Council Gregory Bardouille

The School for Children with Special Needs is one of the Rotary Club of St. Vincent’s major projects since the early 1990s, funded and constructed by the Rotary Club of St. Vincent in keeping with one of Rotary International’s areas of focus – Basic Education and Literacy. This bus replaces the original bus which had been in use for over a decade. The school bus service currently transports children, who attend the School for Children with Special Needs and the Helping Hands, between their homes and school, from across mainland St. Vincent, on a daily basis. The safe transportation of these children is the Club’s priority.

The bus was officially handed over to the Club’s President Mikasha Ramsaran by Chairman of the PMAD Advisory Council Mr. Gregory Bardouille and PMAD Representative for SVG, Mrs. Dawnette Constance. The Rotary Club of St. Vincent is grateful to Republic Bank EC Ltd. for this partnership. It has provided the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families, by making formal education more accessible.
