The Bonaire Human Rights Organization (BHRO) hosted a heartwarming Valentine’s charity dinner on February 14th, bringing together supporters and advocates for an evening of philanthropy and solidarity. The event, held at the Terrace of Ocean View Residence of the BHRO President, aimed to raise funds and awareness for the basic human rights of the people of Bonaire.

Attended by over 70 guests, including prominent community leaders, activists, and donors, the evening was a celebration of compassion and commitment to human rights. Guests enjoyed a six-course gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and short inspiring speeches by Davika Bissessar Shaw, President, and James Finies, Vice-President.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming support shown by a Multi Culture Society of Bonaire at our Valentine’s charity dinner,” said Mrs. Bissessar of the Human Rights Organization. “This event not only raised crucial funds for our cause but also strengthened our community’s resolve to advocate for the rights and dignity of all individuals.”

During the evening, attendees had the opportunity to witness the Citizens Award presented to Mrs. Zara Winklaar for her outstanding contributions to Bonaire’s struggle to self-determination. Additionally, earlier in December, Bonaire Human Rights Organization honored Mr. Elvis Braaf, Mr. Izaak “Uz” Evertsz and Mr. Richard “Rishi” Pietersz as recognition for their outstanding achievements and dedication.

Mr. Finies reaffirmed his commitment to continue fighting for the rights of all Bonerians in his organization’s quest for the rights of the people.

The Human Rights Organization extends its gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters whose generosity and dedication made the Valentine’s charity dinner a resounding success. Finally, we thank Marjolein Finies for the exceptionally prepared six-course meal and Arlene Finies for the incredible decorations. Together, we will continue to champion human rights and work towards a future where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
