Kingstown, July 24, 2024 – The Police Band Summer Program has officially launched, drawing over 100 eager youths from across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Under the banner “Harnessing Young Minds During Summer Time,” this year’s initiative is set to offer an enriching blend of musical education and developmental activities to children aged 9 to 15.

Inspector Vaughn Miller, Band Master of the Police Band, inaugurated the event with a stirring address. He underscored the pivotal role of music in fostering discipline, teamwork, and creativity. Inspector Miller urged participants to fully embrace the program, which he hopes will spark a lifelong passion for music and personal growth.

Commissioner of Police (Ag) Mr. Envill Williams echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the program’s importance in community building and youth development. He highlighted how such initiatives are instrumental in steering young minds towards constructive activities, reinforcing the RSVGPF’s commitment to shaping future leaders through structured, disciplined, and engaging programs.

The ceremony featured an inspiring speech by Mrs. Joy Haynes, Principal of Barrouallie Anglican School. Mrs. Haynes lauded the RSVGPF for its dedication to music education and encouraged participants to seize this opportunity for personal and social growth. She also urged parents to support their children’s musical endeavors, recognizing the broad benefits of such programs on academic and personal development.

A highlight of the event was a generous donation of 100 chairs from Sir Louis Straker and Dr. Mineva Glasgow, representing the SVG Friendship Foundation Inc. Dr. Glasgow praised the program’s positive impact on youth development and expressed the foundation’s pride in supporting such a worthy cause. Commissioner Williams gratefully acknowledged the donation, which will serve as a lasting symbol of community backing for the program.

Running until August 23, 2024, the Police Band Summer Program promises to be a transformative experience, blending music education with community engagement. The RSVGPF extends its heartfelt thanks to all contributors and looks forward to a productive and harmonious summer.
