A special ceremony was held to celebrate the awarding of scholarships to thirteen talented Vincentian students who are about to embark on a new chapter in their lives in Cuba. Hosted by Amvassador Carlos Ernesto RodrÃguez Etcheverry, the event brought together students, their families, and distinguished guests to honor this momentous occasion.
The students, twelve of whom will pursue various bachelor’s degrees and one a postgraduate study, are set to study Medicine, Mechanical Engineering, and Dentistry. As they prepare to leave for Cuba on August 19, they were encouraged to study diligently and immerse themselves in Cuban culture, embracing the opportunity to learn and grow in a new environment.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Minister of Health, Hon. Jimmy Prince, and Ms. Petrion George from the Service Commission. In a touching moment, the event also paid tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, just days before what would have been his 98th birthday, recognizing his impact on education and healthcare.
The gathering was filled with a sense of pride and anticipation as the students prepared to embark on this exciting journey, carrying with them the hopes and dreams of their families and community.
