Police are investigating a series of vehicle burnings that have occurred in recent months, resulting in the destruction of three cars under suspicious circumstances. The incidents involve vehicles that were either reported stolen or found ablaze shortly after being taken.

The first incident occurred on July 20, 2024, when a red Nissan Sylphy was reported stolen from Villa around midnight. The car was later discovered in Ottley Hall, completely destroyed by fire. On the same night, a drive-by shooting in Paul’s Avenue left multiple people injured, with reports indicating that the vehicle used in the shooting matched the description of the stolen Nissan Sylphy. The car’s owner was questioned by police but has since been released.

On August 14, a second vehicle was targeted in Calder, where an unknown individual reportedly broke into the parked car before setting it on fire. Witnesses nearby heard the sound of breaking glass and saw a person fleeing the scene as the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

The latest incident occurred last Friday when another vehicle was stolen from the Villa area while the female owner was out liming. The car was found burned the next morning on a road leading to the ‘pond’ in Rawacou.

Authorities are not  treating these cases as  connected and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding each vehicle burning.
