The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has expressed its outrage following a violent attack on national player Coby Mingot on the night of August 20, 2024. In a statement released earlier today, SVGFF President Otashie Spring, along with the Executive Council, condemned the attack in the strongest terms, calling it a heinous act that has no place in society.
“Violence in any form is unacceptable and goes against the values of respect, unity, and sportsmanship that we hold dear in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” the statement read. The SVGFF made it clear that the safety and well-being of its players is a top priority, and they are committed to providing Mingot and his family with all necessary support during his recovery.
The Federation also called on local authorities to act swiftly and decisively in bringing those responsible to justice. “We urge the community to unite against violence and work together to foster a culture of peace and respect,” the SVGFF urged.
The SVGFF’s statement underlines the importance of ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the sport, including players, staff, and supporters. As the investigation continues, the Federation remains committed to working with law enforcement to ensure that such incidents are addressed with the seriousness they deserve.
The football community now rallies behind Mingot, hoping for his speedy recovery and a return to the field, while also emphasizing the broader need for a safer, more peaceful St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
