Several port workers are in custody, assisting the police with an investigation into missing goods at the port. ANN was reliably informed that an individual imported a quantity of branded bags; when he went to clear the items, over 50 bags were allegedly missing from his shipment. The source told ANN that the individual didn’t make a formal complaint, but about a week later, he met a gentleman with one of the identical bags. When questioned, the man said that he bought it from a port worker. The matter was then reported.

On Tuesday, two workers were arrested by police in connection with the alleged theft of the items. The police returned on Wednesday and arrested a further four workers. Up to press time, all individuals were still in police custody.

This publication cannot confirm if any charges have been laid. About two months ago, workers from the Port Authority were fired for stealing items from the port. ANN was also reliably informed that one of the men in custody was accused several times of stealing. One female is among the persons in custody, ANN was told.
